A weepy patch on each breast, any ideas what it could be?

I have a small weepy sore patch on each breast above the nipple, I am bf'ing my 4wk old.

Any ideas what it could be?

I realy do not want to have t go the doctors if I can help it as it means roughly an hours wait in the surgery.

I have canestan cream, would it hurt if I put some of this on to see if its thrush?

I wouldn't put canestan on it. It does not sound like thrush and even if it was i dont think that is how it would be treated. It sounds like it could be a problem with your latch. Can you get to a breastfeeding cafe for some real life help? Or phone the nct bf helpline?

I don't think its the latch because its right at the top of my areola.

Phoning the nct helpline is a good idea, although I'll have to wait until I have some peace!

Don't put Canestan on it, its poisonous. Either get to the doctors or to a breastfeeding group.
