hello

DD is 3 weeks old today and some days she will go 2/3 even 4 hours between feeds but on other days she will go just 60/90 minutes before wanting to feed. So, does anyone happen to know whether it is possible to over feed a BF baby when feeding on demand? one midwife said i shouldnt feed more than every two hours and another said always feed when demanded. i am confused. can anyone shed any light?

thank you!

not to my knowledge. if they're not hungry they don't suck.

Yes congrats on baby, sounds like you are doing brilliantly.

Definitely feed on demand, this sounds like absolutely typical newborn behaviour. Best of luck!

Definitely feed on cue especially when DD is so tiny. Shes only got a little belly and sometimes 2 hours is going to be too long for her.

With regards to is it possible to overfeed I believe it is possible for some babies. My DD suffers a lot from wind and stomach pains and because milk is an antacid will always want to feed when her tummy hurts which makes her worse.

However what you are describing sounds like normal newborn feeding habits.
