breastmilk and skin rash

dt1 (8wo) has a very red rash on her cheeks. it looks like she has scratched her milk spots and they've become inflamed. a friend says I should use breastmilk to clean her face. is this sensible? I've heard of using it for eyes, but is rubbing milk on her face really going to help and should I wash it off afterwards?

It certainly works on sore nipples, but when my little girl has dribbled milk on her cheeks it dries feeling really rough and her cheek feels 'dry' (like dry skin)

I've noticed my 5 week old getting a bit spotty, just a pinprick rash on her face, so I've gone back to using cooled boiled water on her face (was previously just using warm tap water) and it has cleared it within 2 days. I think that is what I would try first with your little one if you aren't already.

I'd get your GP or HV to have a look at it, it could just be baby acne.

I used breast milk on my dd in during feeds. just rubbed in with my finger, and washed with cotton wool and warn water night and day and that always tired but hers weren't bad. get it checked if you think its inflamed but breast milk won't hurt and will most likely help. its anti bacterial.
