Mastitis - will my baby get a mouthful of yucky stuff?

Morning all, some folks on here were really helpful earlier with my sore boob question - we're thinking it's mastitis - I have a docs appt later today to confirm... I hope it is anyway, or I'll be panicking about this lump in my boob...
Anyway, I just wanted to ask whether, as I'm still feeding from that side, my DS is eventually going to get a mouthful of gunk as the blockage clears? Don't really like the sound of that to be honest... !

Usually the infection is in the breast tissue. If there is still a blocked duct, it is normally thick milk and not gunk. Sometimes, if things have progressed, there may be pus in the milk, but honestly, this is really, really rare. Would not harm your baby anyway.

Hope you get it sorted.

Ask the doc about this, too, LaTristesse.

I will, although she's notoriously rubbish with anything breats feeding related... Sad
