My dd is bf with 1 formula for 11pm feed. During the day she is feeding every 2hrs. I try everything else first to make sure I'm not reading the cues wrong. She feeds for 30mins at each feed. During the night she goes btwn 5 and 7 hrs which is great! Glad it's not the other way around. But I feel like I'm always feeding! I expected her to go longer between feeds at nearly 3 mths. Any thoughts? It's like she isn't getting enough from me. When she was younger she'd go between 3 and 4 hrs so feel like I'm going backwards!

My 3 month old feeds at least 2 hourly I'm afraid - more often today in fact but I think he's having a growth spurt.

might it be because she's going longer at night that she's feeding more in the day? Getting herself full up so she geta a nice long sleep in? !

excuse the ! don't know how that sneaked in. Grin

DD was a bit quicker - 15 minutes a feed, but she ate every two hours til she started solids. I think lots of babies are that way. All the 3-4 hour stuff is really based on formula fed babies - formula keeps them feeling full for longer, so they do go longer.

You sound like you are doing really well.

Envy @tsc - DS is exactly that age and size (aren't big babies ace?!), and will go 3-4 hours between feeds during the day, and then wakes every 2 hours OR LESS during the night. If I offer him food more often in the day he'll take it (sometimes), but does it alter his nighttime feeding?
Does it heck.

My DD is 17 weeks and still feeds at least every 2 hours but the feeds have changed from 30mins plus to about 10-20 mins each time. Unfortunately it is possible that your DD will never feed less frequently than 2 hours although equally she might be one of the ones who does.

I don't think you should be expecting a fixed time for changes in feeding habits because it will possibly set you up for disappointment. I speak from experience as someone who expected things to change at 6 weeks, then 8 weeks, then 12 weeks, then 3 months, then 4 months and has been thoroughly disillusioned everytime a milestone has passed.

Sounds very very normal but it will pass. Feeds will get shorter and will space out but there is not a strict time limit on it.

Trying to accept that you won't get much pre-baby-life type stuff done and are instead working on mummy stuff (nutrition/attachment/nurturing) can make it much easier?!

You should feel very lucky (and proud of yourself for filling her up so beautifully!) for the night time sleeps!
