Poo smells of vinegar

Hi
My 5 1/2 week old has been really unsettled the last couple of days and has spent most of today crying. Her poo is also smelling really strongly of vinegar and has been really sticky. Anybody any ideas what causes this. I cant call the health visitor or doctor until tomorrow so any advice would be appreciated.
Thank you

Sorry I forgot to say she is being exclusively breastfed. Thanks

Has she got a snotty nose or signs of a cold at all? This is quite common when babies are a bit poorly, or when teething. More likely to be a cold at that age though.

Hi
No there is no sign of a cold. Her temp is up a bit but apart from that I cant find anything obvious. She is normally a contented and happy baby so it is completely out of character for her.

Both of mine had disgusting vinegar smelling nappies when they were teething, but your DD is a bit small for teeth yet (although, it isn't impossible).

Actually, our baby's poo smells faintly vinegary all the time. I worried about it a lot, but it has been the same her whole life (4 months). It could be something you have eaten, or a little virus she is fighting off. As long as she is still producing wet nappies, i wouldn't worry too much.
