Pregnant again but worried about lactating

I'm expecting my sixth baby next year and with great news comes a lot of worry!

The last time I had a newborn I struggled to feed my baby as I wasn't producing enough milk so my daughter who happened to be a first time mother for a few months said she would breastfeed my child instead as I didn't like the idea of bottle-feeding him at such a young age.

Now that I'm pregnant again I can't rely on my daughter to breastfeed my unborn child this time, unless of course she becomes pregnant herself.

I have reservations about bottle-feeding but if I cannot produce enough milk I might have to go down that route.

I just don't know what to do.

Wow, congrats on baby number 6!

Only a small percentage of women actually don't have enough milk to feed their babies.

There are certain things which will guarantee a good milk supply such as frequent, unrestricted feeding.

Why not find a local breastfeeding group that you can go along to and discuss your worries. You don't need to wait until the baby is born either.

A great book that I'd recommend is The Food of Love by Kate Evans- it's a very funny, but highly informative book.

Good luck and come back with any other questions. Smile

hi
congratulations! how wonderful that your daughter was able to help you out! What an amazingly special bond you must all have!!!

How did you feed all your other children? Were there any problems? How was her birth?

I would get in touch with a breastfeeding counsellor or lactation consultant and have them lined up for asap after her birth. or maybe a doula with breastfeeding experience?
