Nine-day-old baby clamping hard

Hi

My DS is nine days old. BFing is going great, but in the last day, he's started to clamp on my nipples so hard it is making me wince. Is this a bad latch, something I need to change? Or just harden up? I believe he is feeding well - his weight was good when he was weighed a few days ago, and his nappies are as to be hoped for.

Thanks!

No real advice from me, but I remember DS doing the same in the early days. I used to take a deep breath and brace myself! I can tell you that it didn't last long and bf in general does get a lot more comfortable.

Good Luck and Congratulations Smile

Oh good! Thank you very much. Hopefully it's just a short-term thing. He was fine for a week!

And thanks re the congrats! :)

my dd did this in first few days... generally it was she was falling asleep and then clamping down as the nipple started slipping. thankfully it stopped after a couple of weeks.
