BF baby tongue flicking in and out!

Is this a hunger cue? Or something else. He is 3 months old and has just started to kind of smack his lips and flick his tongue out. I seem to recall someone saying it could be wind rather than a hunger sign.

It is quite bizarre - like a little lizard!

BTW - putting the words - tongue, flicking and baby into Google certainly brings up some odd links! Baby being used in a non-biological way I might add!

Thanks. I vaguely recall DD doing it but that was a while ago now.

DS has started doing this, but I tend to just ignore it as he's never hungry if I try and feed him and has no wind.

I thought maybe he was just coping us...

Definitely no association with hunger when my daughter started it! She went through a week of licking everything in sight (especially her wool cardigan, yuck!).

I think it's just exploring with their tongues & it is shortly followed by the putting everything in the mouth phase :)

tasting the new tastes in the air. My children did this in particular when outside in the wind!
