4days old, my milk is coming in and since 9.30pmmshe has fed every hour.

I have engorged boobs, lipstick nipples that were huge anyway thanks to Ds chewing them, and are now being chewed again.

She has a significant tongue tie and having the op tomorrow somhoping this gets better, as at the moment I can see beyond this week, let alone feeding for 12'mths like Ds did.

Argh!!! :( Grin

Forgot to say- she is only feeding 15mins at atime ish. Some times longer.

Oh, it's so hard, isn't it. It's normal, and it gets easier, and your body (and your baby) are doing a brilliant job of establishing the relationship.

HUGE congratulations on your daughter!

MonsterseyeofNewtPunch · 13/10/2010 03:53

Yep defo 'normal' but here's hoping the 'snip' helps you both to have longer more spaced out feeds tho many babies cluster feed in the evening.

Can you pop her into a sling like a Close so you can still eat etc?

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 13/10/2010 06:20

:) morning!

Tortoise- thanks for the congrats, she is worth it.

Monsters- she needs to flip her day, as I can eat etc as it's daytime that the 2-3.5 HR sleeps are. Her last big sleep is early evening then up through the night ( not that after 4niggts there is a definate pattern, more a feeling)

Oh well!!! At least second time round I'm more relaxed re the sleep deprivation!!

Come join us on the newborn sleep he'll thread Grin

Hope the op goes ok & feeding is better.

Try not to worry about 12 months. We are just taking it hour by hour here!

Bumperlicious · 13/10/2010 07:35

Thats meant to be sleep hell!

ayjayjay · 13/10/2010 08:13

congratulations on birth of DD! These early days are so hard but I'm afraid DDs feeding pattern is completely normal. It does feel like the non-stop feeding goes on for ever but it will get better :)

MoonFaceMama · 13/10/2010 09:44

Congatulations, and yes, t'is indeed what they do, though the tongue tie must be making it worse I imagine.

Hope the snip helps. Grin

MonsterseyeofNewtPunch · 13/10/2010 11:33

Ah SeaShells then wake her to feed more in the daytime so she can sleep longer at night (10pm ish to 6am ish)

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 13/10/2010 18:25

She has fed every hour now since 9pm last night. 40'mins ago she had both breasts and is now wanting more. I am so bloody tired. The dog is going skits because he is old and my Ds is running around over tired banging doors. I thought I had missed the baby blues on day 4, seem to be day 5 instead.

On a plus side, the tongue op went well, and once we get beyond initial latch everything seems more efficient and less painful. Mw was please wiu her- has jaundice but already over birth weight. She suspects a growth spurt - hoo fucking ray!!!!

Inshould have put a moan alert on top of that post!

Ps she has hardly slept today due to feeding so maybe we can start to flip her day?

Glad op went well. the feeding is knackering but a good sign.

i thought i'd got away with the blues too, but it hit on day 6, coinciding with fighting with dh over what to name dd2!

hopefully she is tanking up for a good night.

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 14/10/2010 18:32

Hi! Yes, we had a better night Grin her latch is alsomuch better already and my milk is in so life is more manageable

I'm still a moody cow though Blush Grin

Now if anyone can tell me how to cope with an ancient dog that's a bag of nerves, a 2 year old and a gorgeous baby, plus my mil and sfil I'd be eternally grateful :)
