antobiotics+bf = baby in pain? Help!

Hello

I had twins girls almost a month ago. Been managing to BF them with only 1 formula bottle last thing at night and they are both doing really well. Now though I have a bacterial infection in my womb so have been prescribed penicillin+metronidazole. Am feeling loads better but one of my girls seems to have really bad stomach cramps basically since the antibiotics started. Other DD is fine (so far).

Does anyone have experience of this? Either of these antibiotics causing tummy pains in BF babies? If so, what to do?

I also have a 19 month old DS so am a bit at the end of my tether - want to keep on BF but not sure I can hack it for much longer. I hardly have time to have a shower never mind expressing milk to keep up supply if necessary :(

Thanks for help

Bumping for you .... Good luck

I was on antibiotics in hospital and so was my DS. He had a terrible tummy, but no one was sure if it was my antibiotics or his...

Not much help and I'm not sure what the antibiotics were either...

Yes, my LO didn't like it when I took the Metronidazole either - think it makes the milk taste horrible and usets their tummies. nothing helped until I stopped taking them - sorry.

Rosa and Haggisfish - so you just kept on feeding til you stopped taking the antibiotics? And did the wee ones feed better again once you'd finished the course? My other twin has also started now with the cramps+fussing+crying. Hmm.

Yes to both questions! wihtin one day of stopping them, my wee one was back to normal and less squirmy.

I've heard that anitbiotics can upset LO's tummies, but don't know if there is any substance to it.

My DD is always funny when I'm not well regardless of cause.

Huge congrats and respect for already getting this far
