My brest friend - really worth the money??

Second baby due in 2 months. Didn't manage to BF for long with DD1 (2 weeks then 6 weeks of EBF) due to variety of reasons incl DD in and out of hospital for first few months but also bad latch (even though MW said fine my crater nipples suggested otherwise!) which then led to blocked milk ducts, refusal to feed, serious engorgement that lasted 10 days and mastitus. I'm convinced if I can get my latch right this time from the beginning I stand a better chance so am willing to try anything. Obviously £45 is a lot of money for a cushion which can't be used like the V cushions afterwards for reading in bed or helping DD cuddle new baby.

Can anyone who has used one give me their experiences? Would be really grateful. Thanks.

I bought one second had on ebay and it was the best £15 I have ever spent. I wish I had bought one when my first DC was born. It has made breastfeeding soooooo much easier.
I took it into hospital with me so that I could get the perfect latch from the first feed. Still had sore nipples for the first few days, but nothing like the first time.... I really believe it was down to this cushion
that i have fed for so long.
If I have more DCs, I plan to buy a new one now that I have seen how good it is.
good luck, I hope it works for you too

I found mine very useful for the first 3 months

Haggisfish · 11/10/2010 16:27

mine was great - really wished i had it before 8 weeks. i got mine off ebay for £15 too.

I wouldn't be without mine. It makes BFing so much easier and means you don't need to use your hands so it's easier to eat/drink/read/mumsnet while feeding.
I bought mine from ebay for £20, they are always popping up on ebay so you shouldn't have a problem finding one.

hated mine, you can buy it if you like

tanmu82 · 11/10/2010 17:17

I didn't use one with DC1 or 2, but bought one second hand on Ebay for £3.50 for DC3, due in 3 weeks. I am already glad I bought it, and at such a bargain basement price, I can't go wrong (besides, DCs love nicking it anyway!)

Whether or not a particular cushion will work for you depends a lot on your breast size and shape, your posture, your body proportions etc etc. £45 is a lot of money.

You'd be better off looking into local BF support, phoning a helpline or two, and/or dropping into local BF support groups, in the next couple of months, so you have BF support ready.

BF cushions can be helpful. BF support is always helpful.

If you're happy to say what part of the country you're in, I can have a dig for BF groups there?
