He's 12 weeks and gone from 1 or 2 feeds in the night (apx 2 am and 5 am) to nearly every 2 hours or so.

It's a growth spurt isn't it???? Please tell me it is! I was so pleased at his manageable sleeping pattern and now I am totally knackered!!!!

it probably is.
I have taken to co-sleeping with dd so she can help herself (she's 9 months).

Yes it is. If you're lucky he'll go back to normal after a few days.

If it's the 4 month sleep regression thing, then it could be tricky for a bit (lots of threads on here about it - I'm not convinced of the reasoning behind the term, but dd2's sleeping certainly went south at about this age, dd1 never had this problem)

hope it's the first one!

Well it has been 2 days of this so we shall see...........

I dont like the sound of 'sleep regression'. Will now search for it just to scare myself!

Ugh! I don't like the sound of that at all. He has only just started to sleep for longish periods anyway.

12 weeks is one of the big growth spurts. 4 month, 6 month and 9 month sleep regressions quite common I'm afraid - relates to developmental spurts.

Thanks.

This is good on sleep regressions.

'Regression' is a bit of a misnomer; 'sleep setback' would be a better description. It's a temporary blip in sleep patterns which often means more frequent waking. It's actually your baby working on a huge forward leap of developmental progress which is really exciting.

This site is good for explaining what's going on in these magical leaps forward.

(I know I sound postive - we're in the middle of the 9 month one so I have to keep my spirits up. Grin)

Thanks AngelDog.
