Basically how did you do it? Is there anything you did to fall pregnant or get periods to return?
Is it just something you cannot control and different for every woman?
I am trying to keep up breastfeeding till the 1 year mark, but would also like to conceive and so far no signs of a period.

Do I have to stop to get period back? Or just wait till baby eats more, and drinks less milk because at the moment she is breast feeding More and more not less ( 7 months old by the way)

I think from what I've read on here and talking to friends it's different for different women, but for me, my periods returned when dd1 stopped feeding at night. She was still feeding loads during the day.

I was quite fortunate/unfortunate that my period returned after 3 or 4 months after each baby was born. You may not have to wean to get them back though, just reduce feeds over time, or stop night feeds as wem said. But I wouldn't sugest night weaning a 7 month old yet. She'll pick up her food intake a lot over the next few months, so maybe look at it again when she's, say, 10 months?

I ttc from DS being about 15 months
Periods returned when he was 16 months and I had 2 then was pg
I did consider using ovulation sticks to see if I was actuallty ovulating - can get them cheap from ebay - worth a try??

5DollarShake · 06/10/2010 09:07

My periods returned when DS was 5 months old - I was still exclusively breastfeeding and hadn't started weaning. He was still waking once or occasionally twice at night to feed. Confused

Conceived DD when DS was 9 months - still breastfeeding.

I read on another thread here that when some people 'disrupted' they breastfeeding e.g. expressing and then not BF for a few days as they were at a wedding, then they started ovulating again. They then went back to breastfeeding with no problem but did get pregnant as they were then ovulating...

Can I add another question as we have people who gor pregnant while breastfeeding all here together? Sorry to hijack your post missy.

I have posted this elsewhere, but just wondering if anyone could help me.

We've started TTC, still bfing. My nipples hurt so much that I can't feed DD. It is only a few days since I could have conceived. Could this be a sign of pregnancy (so soon?) or a sign of something else? How quickly did you get this? I'm trying to wean her now, as it hurts too much now.

StealthPolarBear · 06/10/2010 12:30

ooh yes mine hurt - not quite that quickly but yes.
Hope you are :)

Thanks SPB. I doubt it's a sign of that, it seems incredibly soon, but for whatever I'm stopping breastfeeding, the pain is too much.
