I CANNOT believe I am writing this post but my delicious DD turns 1 tomorrow and I am still breatsfeeding

I remember posting when she was 20 weeks or so, saying, I was going to make it to 6 months and how pleased I was and now she's a year!

I had so much wonderful help, support and encouragement from so many especially in the early days and every single post kept me going, and got me to this point

DD now has 2 teeth and feeding is a tad uncomfortable at the moment but we are powering through

So thanks a million ... I wonder if I will post a similar message when she is 2?!

oh that is lovely news.
I remember feeling the same way when ds hit 1. I never thought we would make it to 6 months (as it went rather wrong with dd so I thought it was me). Now he is over 2 and I am pondering about how on earth I am ever going to stop!
Amazing feeling though:)

Happy birthday R.

Well done!

I found the first 2 teeth were the worst in terms of the effect on feeding. Subsequent ones (DS has 8) have bothered him less.

well done Ruby and happy birthday to your baby!

You've always seemed very determined and have always had a kind (and informed) word for others (I've name changed but been around)so now you can be one of those "experts" new Mums ask for here!

rubyslippers · 01/10/2010 20:19

Oh - aren't you all lovely

Smile

It is also reassuring to know that the first teeth are the worst

I try to given advice when I can - I had so much support it feels good to be able to give a teeny bit of that back

Well done Ruby! I remember your posts when it seemed like you were stuck in a never-ending growth spurt, but you were always so determined and trying to be positive.

DD turned one last weekend and we're still going too...The first 2 teeth are definitely the worst (dd had hers at 4 mths, and has 9 now Shock) -you just might find you have to slightly readjust her latch whenever she gets new ones Smile

rubyslippers · 01/10/2010 20:41

Oh yes ... She was on one massive growth spurt from the minute she popped out LOL!

I can honestly say that it is a hazy, distant memory even though it has been a matter of months that she was waking every 3 hours for a feed

It really is such a small part of it

Nicky - hope things are ok for you too. You've really been through it

Congratulations rubyslippers. It is a real milestone. I remember some of your posts.

I ended up breastfeeding for three and a half years (through two babies) and I feel I owe it all to mumsnet. Smile It just wouldn't have happened otherwise.
