Anyone taken Domperidone to increase milk supply?

BF councillor has recommended I try this to boost my milk supply as my LO is struggling to gain weight. Just wondered if anyone else had tried it and if it worked?

Thanks!

It is better for restoring a previously good supply, than at creating a supply that was never there.

Has your latch been checked? Have you tried breast compression? Are you feeding on demand, day and night?

I am feeding on demand and doing compressions and switch nursing. I am also trying to express after feeds although nothing really comes out. Latch has been checked and is fine and i have spent days in bed doing skin to skin. I am also taking fenugreek to see if that helps. I am trying everything but nothing seems to help so this is the next thing to try. LO is nearly 6 weeks old now so have been trying to improve things for a while now.

I used it - I think it worked. I was relactating though. Get your GP to prescribe it - awful lot cheaper than buying motilium over the counter!

I have a Drs appointment next week, apparently they are quite happy to pescribe it so hopefully my GP will let me have some.

It feels like a bit of a last resort TBH so I don't know what else to do if it doesn't work.

I used it for DD1 and use it now when I want to raise my supply for some reason. It's brilliant and my DH has prescribed it for women for this very reason - it has very few side effects for me, though it does make me ravenously hungry. It also makes my IBS much better - bonus! I hope it works for you. I combine it with ensuring I'm hydrating and increased pumping, and tend to see results quite fast. I wish more women / doctors / LCs knew about it.

Thanks FrozenNorth that sounds encouraging! If i can get it I will be working with the BF councillor to come up with a plan to get the best results. - I'm willing to put the work in to get my supplies up.
