What was your first period like whilst / after breastfeeding?

I'm breastfeeding my 9 month old DD. Yesterday I thought my period was starting. Had the same old period headache I used to get, back cramps and period pains. When I wiped there was blood on the tissue. Enough to make me think my period head returned and put in a tampon. Without TMI, the tampon was probably not necessary - just a little blood on. Today, nothing really, just a little blood on wiping maybe, but I still have all the aches and pains as if it was in full swing.

I am confused. What is this? Is it my period. Why is it so light if so? Should I consider myself fertile? Please help.

Had my first period when 2 weeks after stopping BFing. It was a BIG period. I hadn't anticipated it being so big as I've always had a light flow. We were on holiday at the time and I was so worried, and had leaked SO much, I threw the bedsheets away.

I'm guessing it's different for everyone to be honest. I've had two more "periods" since then, both very different from the first.
