Arghh, have totally forgotten what to do when engorged....

My baby is now out of SCBU, yipeee, but we're still in hospital until she gains some weight.

She is breastfeeding on demand but has short feeds, ten to twenty minutes, every three to four hours (even if I offer earlier she doesn't take).

My milk is in and I have rock hard breasts which are getting hot to the touch, should I express some off, or will this make it worse?!

Can't remember what's best to do, help!

Express off enough to make them softer. Often a hot shower will encourage the milk to come out.

I was told to have a warm bath and massage to express enough to be comfortable again.

Feeling much better, thank you all, and thank you for your good wishes. SCBU have been amazed at DD's progress, I can't help, in a hormonal slightly hippy fashion, thinking that the good thoughts from all of you helped.
