"Under" or "over" bfeeder

Been wondering about this for a while...

I've always breastfed by DCs by pulling my top down because given a choice between exposing what I hope to be the tiniest bit of top of boob skin (what with DC's large head and my well practiced discreet technique) and the vast expanse of out of control blubber that is my stomach, I choose think the former less noticeable. Plus I like looking at my baby.

Am I being deluded and everyone can if fact see my waps? How do you do it?

Both ways depending on what access the top I'm wearing allows.
If I'm out I prefer under because I have large boobs and it shows less but not all of my tops allow this. If I have to do over and I'm not at home or in a feeding room I also cover with a scarf.

OverwhelmedandUnderpaid · 14/09/2010 06:33

Both ways if at home, but out and about I prefer to pull my top down - I find I can get my gear out more quickly and discreetly than under. And if I have my top above DD she enjoys grabbing and stretching it around and trying to put it in her mouth at the same time as feeding :).

StealthPolarBear · 14/09/2010 06:58

Both ways at home, but only ever top up when out - not sure why
It must be my fantastic, flat, toned, tanned tummy

I always were a vest and top so I can pull the vest down (so it still covers my stretch marks (!)) but pull the top up so it still covers the top of my boob. This was meant to be just for going out and about but I actually do this at home as well. Unfortunately this does mean I get quite sweaty in hot weather!

QueenOfFlamingEverything · 14/09/2010 08:11

I do both [not at same time obviously] depending on what I am wearing.

I have some long tops and wrap type dresses that lend themselves to being pulled down - I usually wear a nursing vest under them.

BoobyMcLeaky · 14/09/2010 08:37

I do both depending on what I'm wearing. I do cover with a scarf/ muslin if I'm pulling down when out and about.

MoonUnitAlpha · 14/09/2010 09:02

I do both - vest under t-shirt, vest down top up. Or if I'm wearing a shirt with a vest under I unbutton the shirt and pull the vest up.

But I am quite new at public bfeeding (DS is almost 6 weeks) so I'm sure I'll get less self conscious as I get better at it and DS gets more discreet.

mamasunshine · 14/09/2010 09:10

Both at home. Pull top up when out and wear a vest underneath to cover jelly belly Grin

LooL00 · 14/09/2010 09:12

I do under when out and have taken to wearing big pants to cover the blubber.

Cies · 14/09/2010 09:18

I mostly pull up when out and about. No vest top etc underneath as I get too hot. People can just cope with my exposed back and side (ds covers my tum).

5DollarShake · 14/09/2010 09:20

Both for me too when at home, but have an ever-increasing selection of feeding and stretchy vests so that I can pull top up when out. - that way neither my mahoosive norks, nor my flabby tum are exposed.

M&S do some good, basic stretchy vests in the nighhtwear range, which you can pull down, and they don't lose their shape. Have also got some good stretchy, non-shape-losing vests from Banana Republic, as well as the usual feeding vests from the usual places.

MumNWLondon · 14/09/2010 10:11

I pull up as would rather they saw stomach than breast, but always have carigan handy which generally covers stomach.

nickytwotimes · 14/09/2010 10:16

Under for me too.

I do like the vest-under-top combo that I learned here. Means no tummy flashing, much like the cardi method.

mrsgordonfreeman · 14/09/2010 10:41

Pull down usually as I wear bras with an A frame that give a bit more coverage. I only buy clothes these days that lend themselves to this treatment as I feed in public a lot.

fernie3 · 14/09/2010 13:05

I pull down but normally either have a cardy on as well to cover up or just wrap her in a blanket (not over her head but in a way so that her head + blanket covers boob). I dont pull my top up and I have a huge stretchmarky tummy after 4 children I think I would actually rather people see my boob than my tummy!

jemjabella · 14/09/2010 15:52

Depends entirely on what I'm wearing :)

FidgetPie · 14/09/2010 16:05

I pull my top down when feeding and usually have a vest top underneath which I pull up to cover the top of my boob. It is very discreet (until DD decides to have a look around mid-feed!). It just means I usually have to wear v-neck or low-ish cut tops that can be pulled down enough.

HarriedWithChildren · 15/09/2010 16:52

Interesting. Looks like it's mostly me flashing then.
I tried the layer/vest thing but found it too hot and bulky and by the time I've done all the pulling up and down, unclipping etc... I feel everyone has noticed there's about to be some breast action.
