hi took 3mo ds to hv today for jabs and since he woke this morning with a sticky watery eye i thought id just give it a mention and to my suprise she said express a little breastmilk onto cotton wool and wipe as you would with cooled boiled water, should clear it straight up!

id never heard of using bm for anything other than feeding baby so just wondered if there are any other minor ailments i could use it for? or indeed anything else at all since i have a plentyfull supply.

any experience or ideas?

If the baby has a blocked nose I syringe bm down it - it disolves the snot and kills bacteria - all round winner Grin

On a more serious note, have you thought of donating your milk?

StealthPolarBear · 08/09/2010 18:30

I wait until the baby pulls off, squirt in the face and rub it in :o Instant face wash!

Ineedsomesleep · 08/09/2010 18:30

Blush

When expressing some milk I once accidentally dropped the bottle (thankfully only 1oz!), over my foot, and over my (sorry) in-growing toenail. I have had issues with the toe for years, and I shit you not, days after I dropped the bottle I noticed that it wasn't hurting any more. I haven't had any problems with it since.

My ds gets the occasional flare up of excema which drives him nuts. I squirted some bm on a particular angry patch and he stopped scratching immediately and the next day it had almost cleared up!
I googled it and it appears to be a known fact! ooh!

Should we be sending these to Take a Break?

Ineedsomesleep · 09/09/2010 08:10

How much do you reckon Take A Break would pay us? Grin Do you think they would have a Breastfeeding Special?

rainbowinthesky · 09/09/2010 08:13

I believe that bm killd cancer cells and leaves alone healthy cells. Amazing stuff.

comewhinewithme · 09/09/2010 08:14

I have squirted BM on my DP's back to help with his excema and it soothed it.

I have used bm on my eye,my neighbours eye (don't ask) and sil's eye for stye's and they cleared up.

It has cleared up dd's sticky eye too.

SirBoobAlot · 09/09/2010 10:10

I've just squirted milk up DSs nose after reading it on here... Seems to have cleared it already Shock

Really is amazing stuff, breastmilk...

Amazing! :)

MoonFaceMama · 09/09/2010 15:19

Have heard tell of people (ie adults) drinking bm to combat cancer. Think there was a thread on here about it. Sadly iirc it was a dad actually suckleing from his daughter Shock which obviously would freak quite a lot of people out and probably make any bf seem like something that's only done by wierdos... Which it is, obv, Wink
