Advice on weaning my 2 year old co-sleeping daughter who shows no signs of giving up herself like I was hoping! :-)

Hmmm.... I wanted to feed her until she was two..and I have resisted all other pressures etc to stop sooner..the problem now is that she is not getting a good enough sleep at night because its one boob to the other, sometimes up to six 6 times! and of course I don't let down milk more than once or twice, so she is sucking like mad and my bullet-like nipples have finally started to complain..I do still love cuddling up on the bed in the afternoon and she will have a quick feed and then sleep for two hours.. She will go in her cot at night and go to sleep without a BF when her Dad or Nana puts her to bed if I am at work, but no chance when I am there.. I am a massive supporter of BF, and she is a very healthy, happy, smart little girl, but she has been waking up tired, after shouting out "the other side! the other side" all night! :-) Don't think its doing her any favours now... I now its going to be a tough few weeks if I stop... any tips oh mighty Mumsnetters? :-) CollyDolly

My tibetan sister-in-law suggested I paint a black ring around my nipple (with charcoal or some other safe product) when I wanted to stop bf....then it is baby's choice to stop, not yours.

Baby apparently did a double take and thought 'Yuck, not having that!'......Worked for her :P

(I didn't need to, my dd just stopped)

Elizabth Pantley's No Cry Sleep Solution has some good ideas for getting older toddlers off nigth feeds - worth a look if you can borrow a copy

I am reading with interest. My 14 month old is doing exactly this and we both need to start sleeping.

Do you want to wean or just night wean? Think we night weaned DS at about this age.
Do you co sleep?

Following this with interest - I have 20 month DD still feeding constantly during the day and it's driving me nuts. Unlike OP she actually sleeps ok at night but as I type it's just 7.30 and she's on her sixth 'feed' of the day... Actually don't want to hijack the thread so will start another one of my own but sympathies to you anyway!
