Breastfeeding and periods etc (sorry personal question)

Sorry this is a bit personal, its just that DD is 10 months and i havent had a period yet (lucky me!) but for the last 6 weeks i have suddenly had very heavy discharge every day..... and lots of false alarms where i have bad period pains... but then there is no blood!

I have tried to google this but cant find much about it, ive just learned that some people get periods whilst BF, some dont, With DS I didnt get one til a few months after stopping BF and was assuming this would be the same.

I am concerned about the sudden discharge though. I feel embarassed going to my doctor because they are so busy there and when she looks at me and asks what my other symptons are and im like 'um, I dont have any' it looks like im making a fuss over probably nothing.

Going by the discharge It feels just like im ovulating every day and I dont know if this is the case or whether its just common discharge.

Sorry again for being graphic but I felt it would help to directly ask other people who breastfeed. My doctor has always been a bit dismissing of me breastfeeding when ive seen her before and i even got the impression she didnt have an awful amount of knowledge on it, though I may be wrong.

SOrry to be blunt - but are you sure you aren't pregnant.... rings lots of bells to me - felt exactly the same when DD was just over 10 months and still bf, turns out I was 7 weeks pg. HTH

God dont ive been a bit worried about that too! I dont have any other symptons like with my last two though? Though I have been weeing a lot...
Anyway we do use condoms, though at times we have used the withdrawal method.. which i know isnt 100% but I thought id be ok as I was breastfeeding and not having periods etc etc. Perhaps I should do a test just to make sure, thanks.

DS is coming up to 9mo. I have had the 'period' pains plus a load of other period symptoms - sore boobs, bloating, etc - some extra discharge but I wouldn't describe it as very heavy. I was convinced I was pregnant at its worst but tested and I wasn't. I've had this on and off for a few weeks now and still no period.

Could the discharge be thrush?

I had this for a little while when my DS was cutting down on feeds (weaning) I think it was my body preparing to get back to normal - when I did stop feeding him I had a period I think 2 weeks later ish!

Sorry to scare you that was just my experience, it just didn't enter my head at the time as a possibility until one day I just thought hmmm and bought a test...

No its ok, it had entered my head as well but i was trying to convince myself otherwise!
Ive actually been really itchy recently so i think it could be thrush. Im just surprised ive had the discharge for 6 weeks, thats a long time. Im also bloated and it hurts a bit when i sit down or touch my tummy so think i will visit the doc to rule out anything sinister.
