get a white board marker then use a cd pen and when you want to wipe it over go over the dvd pen writing with the white board marker and it'll come off :) magic... no idea how it works but it does.

alternatively use a water based felt tip but that might wipe off accidentally.

I used a piece of medical tape and wrote on it in biro.... easy! :)

very wasteful but I use to put my tommee tippee containers in a freezer bag and write the date on that in biro instead.

I've now cut out the middle man so to speak and stopped using containers and put the milk directly into a pre-sterilised breastmilk freezer bag.

I bought a load of sticky labels and cut them into 4 and they are easy to write on/peel off and last for ages.

Sharpie permanent marker. It doesn't wipe off, but will actually wash off with a bit of a rub, unless you scratch the surface of the lid, so don't use a scourer.

I second the sticky labels - I bought a roll and they last for ages and are v easy to take off.

thanks for all your ideas! i will try the white board marker/dvd pen idea first as i have both already in my house Smile but if i can't get the hang of it will probably have to resort to sticky labels. i have the presterilised bags too,but as i don't plan to express that often the tommee tippee containers are really handy and so practical (if just a little bit pricey for those who express more often).

Jazmyn the white board marker pen thing really works!! I mentioned it to my DH who is a pharmacist he says its the acetate in the white board pen that does it Smile

don't even need labels - just a roll of masking tape!

sorry i meant acetone not acetate. this is the same thing as nail varnish remover if you wanted to try this but not sure how it would work with sterilisation....
