OMG - May have fed my 7mo dd 2 day old formula

Feeling very very guilty.

We have recently cut my dd down to 4 bottles a day from 5.

Last night I found a bottle that had been left from that morning and not used.

Tonight I found another full bottle. I asked dh if he knew why it was there and he said no. Then it clicked that dd may have drunk the old one.

I thought dh had washed up the old one and he thought I had.

Will this do her any harm? She has been fine since. She had 4oz of it and left 4oz which isnt like her hence me thinking it was that one.

We are both feeling very shite now and are very worried.
Thanks.

Was it in the fridge?

NonnoMum · 14/08/2010 21:48

Well, if nothing to show for it at the moment, you will all probably be fine...

feelingveryguilty · 14/08/2010 21:48

No it wasnt which makes it even worse.

I hope she will be fine. I dont think I will sleep at all tonight for worry and guilt.

Complete confusion on both mine and dh's part. That wont happen again.

But how did it happen? Did you think that DH just prepared it?

Not much you can do now- she's fine now, so that's a good sign.

Aitch · 14/08/2010 21:54

these things happen TO EVERYONE. worst that can happen is she'll throw it up, no harm done. apart from on laundry front.

winnybella · 14/08/2010 21:57

Sorry, I'm a bit confused- you gave your DD a bottle that was prepared 2 days before...ok...but it wasn't in the fridge...so was it waiting to be washed up and you just picked it up thinking it was just made?

MumNWLondon · 14/08/2010 22:41

I did similar when DD was a baby. We were at centre parks, and in those days (2004) ok to add powder to room temp water and serve immediately. It was boiling hot day and she only drank half her 10am bottle. At 6pm mixed another bottle and put it down and by mistake fed her the left over 10am bottle that had been sitting in a roasting car all day. Was in complete panic did not sleep all night. But she was totally fine.

Was it made with water which was 70 degrees C?

WHO guidelines.

DOH/FSA guidelines..

I think she'll be ok - if it was 'bad' she'll probably just vomit and you might have a couple of interesting nappies!

Morloth · 15/08/2010 09:33

I think you would probably find out pretty quickly if there was a problem!

galonthefarm · 16/08/2010 22:21

I agree with Morloth - I think if there was a problem she would let you know about it!

abbierhodes · 16/08/2010 22:24

She'll be fine I'm sure. Not something you'd want to repeat, but she'll throw it up if it was bad. These things happen!
