Itchy nipples at 37 weeks pregnant, could it be thrush?

I have had really itchy nipples the last couple of days and am starting to worry about thrush. They are leaking slightly which makes me wonder if I could have a slight infection feeding off that milk.

I had thrush quite badly when BFing DS and it really slowed my nipples healing so want to catch it early if I get it again. They never itched before but then by the time I had thrush I had painful nipples so may not have noticed it.

Is it possible to have thrush before starting feeding? Is it normal for nipples to itch just because of the changes they are going through?

As far as I know, and I'm no expert, itchy nipples are a normal pregnancy thing. Certainly when I had thrush it was painful, not itchy (if only!) but obviously speak to your GP or midwife if you're concerned.
