End of breastfeeding party?

So I've just (today!)finished weaning my 5 month old son totally onto the bottled powder stuff, having otherwise breastfed since he was born. I have to go back to work very shortly, hence the weaning.

Firstly big cheers for my son for being such a model feeder and proving that breastfeeding IS possible. Hooray!

Secondly, is it weird to feel a little bit relieved/emancipated and want to have some sort of party? Breastfeeding has been very convenient, cost-effective and great for bonding with the little lad, but I must admit to wanting to cheer a bit now I'm not his sole source of food and he can safely be left overnight with someone else!

And thirdly, if you were going to throw such a party, what would you want to do/have?

Maybe treat yourself to a nice takeaway or something?

Well, I hate organising parties but I don't think it's weird to feel emancipated. I'm not sure though whether you mean a grown up party for you or one where children are invited too?

Personally I'd opt for a night out but if it had to be a party I would want food, alcohol, music and good company Grin.

ah badpoet the four best things about having a party....as long as food contains chocolate.

I think I might get DH to do the legwork on organising. Or send him out for takeaway pizza ComeWhineWithMe !

I'd have a really nice meal and some drinks
Go out for a meal without the worry of being called home at any mo to feed
Go out with friends somewhere free as a lark
Go out and get some lovely new bras fitted? I nated nursing bras and was a different size after BF to pre-babies
Anything really...

I find BF very constraining too - and I have a little personal celebration at every stage where it cuts down until its gone Grin

Oooh, ISNT, new underwear is a great idea! I loathe the sight of all my nursing bras.

And I'm glad I'm not the only one who wants to celebrate.
