My 7 month old has lost interest in her solids am I BF her too much?

After a flying start at 5 1/2 months on solids my 7 month old has now lost interest. I have tried not to stress about this and thought it was due to two of her top teeth coming through but it has been going on for weeks now. When she first lost interest she refused them point blank and just clamped her mouth shut and turned away, now she will try one spoonful and then refuse anything after that. I was wnadering if it was an independabce thing as she keeps on grabbing the spoon off me and putting it in her mouth. I have tried her on finger foods so she can have a go herself but she gags everytime and goes bright red and her eyes all tear up which I find frigtening!
A friend suggested I might need to cut feeds back/ or stop night feeds so she is hungrier for her solids? Is she right? Am I BF too much? Not sure how I would cut back as I demand feed and not to a shedual particularly and I wanted to stop her night feeds when my lo is ready. Any thoughts advice would be appreciated, I feeling like I am stuffing this up a bit!

no, keep bf on demand, you are doing exactly the rigth thing

what kind of finger foods are you offering?
she will get the hang eventually but only if she keeps practising. As you've found, gagging doesn't frighten her, just you!
Handing her spoons loaded with mush is worth a try too.

Oh I should mention that I am not worried about her weight at all, she is chunky in all the right places and has very squeezble thighs, lol!

Hi Mrs Badger, thanks for the reassurance! So far she has had a wedge of cucumber (which she actually didn't gag on, lol!), triangles of toast, chunk of banana, a stick of carrot which she was ok with (she just kind of knawed at it) and some steamed brocolli which kind of just disintergrated on the highchair tray, lol! Oh and rice cakes make her gag too. I wish the gagging didn't freak me out quite so much, I'm never sure whent to intervene to stop her choking!

As MrsBadger says - keep BF on demand

Broccoli is a good finger food as it comes with a ready made handle.

Loaded spoons are a good idea too.

Have a look on the baby led weaning website - it gives good hints/tips about gagging and choking.
