how much milk can one small baby need?!

have been breastfeeding DS, 2 weeks old today, non-stop since about 5.30pm, with a 10 minute break while i ate my dinner and a quick interlude to change his nappy/top and tail him/get him into babygrow and sleeping bag. every time he finishes on one side he yells and roots around until i latch him onto the other side. my bum's gone numb from sitting in one spot on the sofa all evening.

i know it's all a normal part of boosting supply etc etc but i really want to go to bed now! i suppose i should be glad it's been all evening rather than starting up at 10pm and going on to 3am like it has been a couple of nights...

There is a growth spurt between two and three weeks. Normally lasts a couple of days - so hopefully should settle down soon!

Oh sympathies! There is nothing to be done but resign yourself to it and make your husband/partner bring you supplies of food and drink, and watch a good film.

It won't be forever, although it may be a few days at a time! Hang in there

Will he feed lying down? If so then go to bed, just take him with you!

God, I went through that last week with my own two-week old; my nipples are hurting in sympathy!

Thanks for the support! I just decided I had to have a 5 minute break and left him sucking DH's finger while I got ready for bed, and now he is looking very sleepy. I think I will take him to bed - I'm more comfortable feeding him in the living room (plus don't have wireless access in the bedroom) but need a change of scene now!

Here's to a good night's sleep after all this...
