No advice really, but you could go back to Gp and tell them you are still bfing and want a drug which is comatible with that. I was on AD's whilst pg and then bfing my Ds 12 years ago and was given a suitable drug.

Good for you re continuing to bf

Its fine. I was on them during pregnancy and whilst breastfeeding.

The info on the BfN website say's it's save to use if infant is over 4 months

www.breastfeedingnetwork.org.uk/drugs-in-breastmilk-information-and-factsheets

I think all the infomrnation on the leflets says not to take while BF is to cover the drug companys back you then have to look up if it is actually compatable.

There is other more recommended SSRIs e.g. Paroxetine & Sertraline but obviously as you are nursing a 21m/o the amount of drug/dose per kg would be minimal. i.e. 21 m/o don't solely live off bm and what drug does get through would be 'shared' of a larger body than a newborn taking the same amount of milk.

I've taken varying doses of sertraline (25mg-100mg) since 2006. I have had two pgs & have breastfed 3 children (started taking sertraline 9 months after DD1 was born) but I take sertraline to combat OCD/PND-OCD as well as PND so it really depends what you need to take your meds for.

To be honest though I would rather take a drug that is for exactly what I needed it for that wasn't the go-to drug for bfing mums rather than taking what was 'safer' but didn't give me quite the relief I needed IYSWIM?

Also if you are planning to TTC in the near future I'd look into your dosing levels as doses of 40-60mg taken in late pg have been associated with risk in the neonatal period (0-3weeks). Doses of
