Can baby last a day at nursery without a milk feed?

My DD is 6 months old and due to start nursery within the next couple of months. Has been exclusively breastfed and never taken to ebm/any type of bottle, (even Haberman feeder, and really can't be faffed with trying any more bottles!) I plan to introduce some formula so that the nursery staff can give her milk using a cup. If she doesn't take to the formula, will she be ok to last the day without any milk feeds, ie 8.30am-3pm? Start solids beg Aug so by the time she's at nursery she will be on 3 meals a day which will include dairy such as yoghurt/cheese, plus she will be offered water. Realise milk should still form bulk of her diet at this age so wondering if she will 'learn' to take longer breastfeeds when she is with me?
Does anyone have any experience of this?

Hi dragon - when dd1 started at the chilminders ( 8 months old) she wouldn't take any milk from a bottle or cup. She would drink water though. I bf her before and as soon as I picked her up + made sure she had plenty of yogurts / cheese etc.

DD1 is now 9 with no problems (still not keen on milk to drink but does lots of exercise and is very fit and healthy).

I'm sure your dd will also be fine.

I would think that would be fine as long as she does eat well and will drink other fluids from a cup or something.

My ds2 wouldn't use a bottle and wouldn't take any liquid other than bm until he was 7 months. I thought I would never be able to leave him anywhere, but all of a sudden as he was approaching 8 months he figured out how to drink from a beaker and then could go fairly long periods (5hrs or so) without bm. He just had slightly longer feed when I did feed him.

Hi Dragon - my baby started nursery for 1 to 1.5 days a week at 6 months- the full days were 8 to 6pm and my baby still does not take anything other than my bm and is now approaching 9 months.

At nursery my baby would have 3 meals and 2 snacks if he was there for a full day. He would drink water and I would also feed him yoghurt and cheese.

So far everything is ok, we make up for lost time be bf more before and after nursery.

My baby never fell for the cup, spoon or other tricks and now nursery have given up on any formula.
I found my baby just clicks into things - and the night after nursery he may wake up during the night more often to feed- which can be tiring if you have been busy all day.
