I have 20 week old DD2 who is exclusively breastfed. She can only breastfeed with me lying down (wryneck)and I have active 3 year old and also working from September so it is not very convenient. At the moment I'm on holiday and she is a really hungry baby so she is constantly on my boobs she won't take any bottle (my DH is looking after the DD1 so it's all right). Only way I got my DD1 to have bottle was go out for a day, and finally it took about almost 48 hours for her to finally take bottle. Starvation...I felt horrible but at the end I was a happier mommy after that. I have feeling that I might have to take same approach with DD2 but I just wanted to see if there was any other moms who went cold turkey and their little one was okay after a day or two of tantrum...

I tried all different teats and formula, expressed, none of these worked so far..

At her age, some babies will take sippy cups. Or a doidy cup, or similar?

It might be worth trying a local breastfeeding group, to see if you can get her latched on in any other position, and also to check her latch - by this age, she should be able to feed in less time, not more! But by this age, babies can be pretty stuck in their ways ...

I did bring a sippy cup so hopefully she will take some. I tried this morning with breastflow bottle but she wouldn't take any. She only plays with bottle and grimaces if any formula touches her mouth!

She is stuck on her way because I know that she CAN feed sitting down, but she will wait for a big feed when we are lying down on a bed now. I also think she is having a growth spurt so she is wanting breast more at the moment.

I hated starvation method and really am not looking forward to it at all..

DD would only take milk from a bottle sitting in her bouncy chair at first, might be worth a try. She would only take EBM at first as well but now glugs down a bottle of formula. Might be worth a try...
My friend just went away for a night and left her DD with her DH and a lot of bottles and it worked eventually, but I was too much of a wimp to try this!

ah ha...I didn't bring my breast pump..oh dear. I am really dreading it now. I will try again tomorrow morning with the bottle when she's bit happy.

Hi - am doing the same with 28 week old at moment and starting with 1 formula feed in afternoon. She refused first day and now at 4oz - trying 2 tomorrow. With my first she hated taste and I mixed expressed and formula 80/20, 70/30 and so on and was off in 2 weeks. They were ok with bottles but cousin had same issue with cups etc and ended up with a cheap asda sippy cup which did the trick after spending fortune on loads of others. Stick to it - it'll work eventually!
