Going to a LLL meeting @ 39wks pg

I was thinking of going down to the meeting today, because I want to bf, and get in touch with some supporters in advance. The meeting's only once a month in this town, so next time I'll have the baby out (and the sooner the better!).

I was planning on going in, introducing myself, and just asking if I can get some details of who to phone if I'm struggling in the first couple of weeks. Is that generally considered ok, or would it be a bit weird to have me there?

They'll love to see you - it's always great when people go before the baby arrives so that the first time people meet you isn't when you are in a fluster/upset/sleep deprived

Absolutely go. I went to my local bf cafe once a week for 3 weeks before having DS. They were such a friendly bunch of people and it will make it so much more special when you go to show off your new DC!

Actually, if LLL is anything like the BF organisations locally, they will be happy to talk you through what good latch looks like, what to do if you get into trouble, etc etc.

Many new mums get on particularly well with the cross-cradle hold, so that's what they teach at our local antenatal classes.

fab - thanks for the reassurance, I'm heading down later this morning! I'm in the US so there's no NCT here, and I think LLL is my best bet for getting the support I need. Lots of bfing mums in this town, but not a 'cafe' as such, so I just need to find them!

Definitely! Hpoe you enjoy it. I went to an NCT morning when I was pg and someone there showed me how to latch the baby on in detail - was very useful!
