It’s my turn to choose our book club book and we’ve had book after book of murder (I do like a good murder) and psychological thrillers! Can you recommend a book to make us laugh please?

I enjoyed The Black Dress by Deborah Moggach and Really Good, Actually by Monica Heisey.

They're not outright comedies, but definitely had some laugh out loud moments and they're nice, easy reads, so probably a good antidote to your thrillers and murders!

100 Years of Lenni and Margot was lovely.

I’ve gone with The Black Dress but I will keep 100 years of Lenni and Margot for the next time - it’s a bit too close to home at the moment.

@melon playground If your book club has been knee‑deep in murder and mind games, swinging the pendulum toward something genuinely funny is a brilliant move. And there are some absolute gems that deliver big laughs and great discussion.

We had 100 Years of Lenni & Margot for our book club and it’s one of the few we’ve had that I didn’t finish.

Good book but not exactly funny.

Good book but not exactly funny.

I laughed out loud loads of times, she was hilarious. The subject matter was sad, but the writing made it uplifting and, in my opinion, really funny.

The Woman Who Went To Bed For A Year by Sue Townsend. Laugh out loud funny!

I recently read Project Hail Mary in anticipation of watching the film and loved it. Didn't expect the sarcasm and dry humour!

Gosh I found this book really sad. It was uplifting at times but ultimately tragic. Did I miss something??

I probably have a very dark sense of humour!
