My Not-so-favourite-mistake

I’m a huge Marian Keyes fan but reading My Favourite Mistake had me wondering if it was AI generated. Wasn’t her normal colourful writing, plot was boring - shifting between predictable and directionless. The characters weren’t as lively or rich. And the few bits of humour were tepid where Keyes writing is normally very humour-filled while also having depth and complexity. This one was a let down.
I’m loathe to say anything neg about the wonderful Marian Keyes and her excellent work. I’ll simply wait quietly over here for her next 📕

I used to absolutely love her books, but not so much the last few. I'm not sure why, it might be me!

I enjoyed this one much more on the second read. On the first go I think I was so annoyed that she had really grasped at straws for a plot that it put me off the book.

I’m just read this and was so disappointed. It was just… meh. I’m tired of the “feathery strokers” stuff and the unfunny Walsh family. The will they won’t they went on far too long. There were too many characters and it was all a bit cod Irish with the quirky villagers welcoming in the Dublin blow in.
