Hia,

Reaching out to MumsNet because I am looking to buy a first cook book for my great Niece for Xmas 8 Yrs old (alongside an apron and Chefs hat from Amazon Ha).

I have been googling review sites for books and also amazon and it's a minefield !

Has any mums got a budding cook and found the perfect book to get them started?

Thanks, Julie

This got my daughter through cubs and beyond. It's still the best Victoria sponge ever (she won an award for it in the village baking comp).
She says there's a variety of things to cook for all occasions - and she was surprised to discover profiteroles are easy to make!

Thank you so much for your reply :-)

I ran this by my Nieces mum and she thought it a brilliant idea to go the cook book route and now I have one that is recommended :-)

Does her mum or dad cook?
I only ask as you'd need to be sure there was basic cooking / baking equipment at home, otherwise she'd struggle to do the recipes.

This is a great idea though, top Aunt ⭐️

The books by Jane's Patisserie are great & fun. But would need adult supervision.

I was going to say DK too - my daughter's got DK cooking step by step and it's great

Amazon has it on offer for £6.72 at the moment!

DS had a cookbook similar to this one. We used to let him choose a recipe a week and shop and cook with him.
