Oh, the 1970s sequel! I’d completely forgotten it was coming, as I’d hated his Thomas Mann novel.

BBC radio 4 has serialised Brooklyn, penultimate episode on this morning, it will be on BBC Sounds. Really enjoyed it, now going to read the book.

Has anyone read this now? I finished it today: loved it but oh! The ending!

I will read it but listened to the whole of the R4 serialisation yesterday. I really enjoyed it, but was disappointed by the ending. I had a few questions about the content itself, but won't post them until more people have commented, as it will spoil the story.

Did not enjoy this at all, wish it had been left as it was.

I found Brooklyn quite dull, one of the rare occasions when the movie was better. Will give this a go though.

Surely he's got to write a third novel and not leave us all hanging? I loved it; love his writing, and felt so sad for Eilis.

I listened to it on radio 4 and was extremely annoyed by the ending.

In fairness, I think people have had ample time to read it by now. Or start a new thread and put ‘Spoilers’ in the title?

I too was disappointed with how it ended but hoping for a sequel.

I'm finally reading it and finding it so dull. Eilis is insanely passive. I'm glad there's a twist coming because I need some payoff for the time I'm spending on it.
