Looking to fill my boots this new years with reading, reading and yes... more reading.

I recently finished the ACOTAR trilogy and it just didn't hit the spot. I'm interested in learning what everyone else's favourite romance books of all time are.

I will read everything and anything.

Thank you

I love Nora Roberts - not her mills and boon super romantic ones, but the thrillers with romance thrown in. Particular favourites are Montana Sky and Chasing Fire

The dark hunter series by sherryilon Kenyon. Unbelievable 🤗🤗🤗

I've enjoyed various books by Sally Thorne, Emily Henry, Kate Clayborn, Elizabeth O'Roark, Lucy Parker, Sarah Maclean, Tessa Dare and lots more. Mix of contemporary or historical but depends what you're looking for. I couldn't get into ACOTAR at all either.

For historical romances I love

The Flame and The Flower by Kathleen E. Woodiwiss (and all her earlier books are great including Come Love A Stranger)

Love Cherish Me by Rebecca Brandwyn is brilliant but no longer in print

Johanna Lyndsey books - loads of hers are good but try the Mallory book series, the one with Amy Mallory & Warren is my fave of the series, I think it's called The Magic of You.

Catherine Bybee does some gentle contemporary romance with nice plots - although still for "grown ass women".

And for something raunchy but with feeling is the Crossfire series by Sylvia Day. This one might be a bit marmite though.

I only recently finished ACOTAR series and loved it. Kresley Cole does a great contemporary fantasy romance series 'Immortals After Dark' of which most are great. My faves are A Hunger Like No Other and Dark Desires After Dusk.

A good Young Adult fantasy romance series starts with Becoming Alpha by Aileen Erin.

ETA: And Judith McNaught does some great historical romances. Whitney, My Love and Man of My Dreams are both great reads although TW, Whitney has one non-consensual scene in it.

I’ve always enjoyed Jennifer Crusie novels. I particularly liked Welcome to Temptation.

The Time Travellers Wife

Wuthering Heights. It really is the ultimate romance.

SalmonWellington · 04/02/2024 21:08

Following on from Wuthering Heights rec - are there any romance novels where the male lead is nothing like Heathcliff? Because he's AWFUL. Run a mile awful.

If we’re talking classics, Persuasion is my favourite. I could go all unnecessary about Capt Wentworth.

My best romance novel was about a girl from Paris who fell for a Breton fisherman. Unfortunately I have no idea what it was called.

Just googled and it was called Salt on my Skin by Benoite Groulte.
