I'm struggling. Our book group seems to have read so much.

I like crime, and not huge thick books Grin

Eight Detectives. Very clever, relatively short. Short standalone whodunnits alternate with chapters about a woman flying out to meet a man on an island and over time it becomes clear how those stories are relevant. Really enjoyable and interesting and different. The sort of book you want to immediately read again!

Not crime, but I really liked My Year of Rest and Relaxation. It's quirky and odd and really draws you in.

Mrs England by Stacey Halls is a good read. Edwardian and quite creepy and not too long.

Lessons in chemistry?

What do you call "modern"? I consider anything after WWII is modern.

The Appeal by Janice Hallett is a lot of fun. A crime novel mostly written in emails.

I came here to recommend The Appeal but see it’s already been said!!

But anything by Sarah Winn is gorgeous and great for book club discussions.

Notes on an Execution
A terrible Kindness

Both great reads with lots of discussion points!
