Looking for a really good thriller

The last thriller that I thought was really entertaining, gripping and clever was Behind Closed Doors

Anyone got any good recommendation, that aren't crime / police thrillers?

Oh, and agree with Gentlemen and Players comment by PP. Very clever and engrossing

The Last by Hanna Jameson

Behind Her Eyes by Sarah Pinborough. I can often guess the twist coming at the end of books but this one with a double twist is off the scale, weird and thought provoking.

I loved the Good Samaritan by John Marrs - it is currently 99p for the Kindle version from Amazon.

"She’s a friendly voice on the phone. But can you trust her?

The people who call End of the Line need hope. They need reassurance that life is worth living. But some are unlucky enough to get through to Laura. Laura doesn’t want them to hope. She wants them to die."

@LizzyELane - thank you for that recommendation. have just finished Behind Her Eyes.

In years of reading psychological thrillers and guessing the twist way ahead of the ending this is the first that fooled me (the second twist anyway.)

Did you know that it is an upcoming Netflix series? Really looking forward to that.

CharlottesComplicatedWeb · 29/08/2020 00:02

Flesh House (Stuart McBride) was too creepy/gory for me so passed it to a friend who said it’s fantastic so, am getting it back to give it another go 😐

The Family Upstairs by Lisa Jewell
The Flower Girls by Alice Clark-Platts
Nine Perfect Strangers by Liane Moriarty

Aquamarine1029 · 29/08/2020 00:29

Intensity by Dean Kootnz. It's a hell of a story.

whatsthepointinwasps · 29/08/2020 01:47

The Memory Wood and Before We Were Yours.
Both stories pull you in from the start; memory wood is definitely a thriller, although it involves a crime,it is not at all your conventional whodunnit cops and robbers type thing. Absolutely nail biting without a doubt.
Before we were yours is a thriller in as much as it’s an extremely compelling story, very intriguing so that you’re desperate to find out how it ends.
I listened to both these books through audible as I was busy with diy, they were both so good I didn’t notice time passing and started finding stuff to do just so I could keep listening. They are available in all formats, electronic and traditional

CharlottesComplicatedWeb · 29/08/2020 08:22

@Aquamarine1029... am just starting The Family Upstairs!

Standrewsschool · 29/08/2020 19:03

Blood Orange is good, but not really a thriller - more about one person’s life. There’s a lot if sex in it as well.

CharlottesComplicatedWeb · 30/08/2020 19:44

Finished The Family Upstairs. Very good. Not what I was expecting.

KatieD847 · 17/10/2020 23:01

Mark Edwards' books are all really good...I've read all what he has released so far and not been disappointed.

alittlehelp · 17/10/2020 23:06

Erin Kelly and Rosamund Lupton are two of my faves.

SueDeeNym · 26/10/2020 22:12

Terry Hayes - I am Pilgrim - a first class thriller

The Charlie Parker Series - John Connolly - mildly supernatural

MinnieJackson · 07/11/2020 21:09

I've just read Police are at the station and they don't look friendly, by Adrian McKinty. I couldn't put it down. It's set in Belfast in the 80's.
