Hi there. My brother is currently going through depression and I wondered if anyone could recommend me a good self help book? As he's a typical guy and doesn't read that much does anyone know of an easy, readable book that isn't to intimidating if that makes sense? Thank you so much in advance x

Hi
I found this useful
Overcoming Depression : a Self-help Guide Using Cognitive Behavioral Techniques https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1841191256/ref=cmswwrcppapi_6MSFAb6AGQA8K
I hope he does too

It’s not a self help book per se, but I have found Matt Haig’s “Reasons to Stay Alive” really helpful. At least it was helpful for me.
I also really liked the Black Dog books - which were helpful to put into words how I was feeling when I was depressed but also able to show others how it can feel.

I think this book is really good. It also has details of a website with lots of CBT style videos and exercises to do.

Potatoes not Prozac. Is a brilliant book which really explains the chemistry that’s causing depression and how you can’t treat it.

Sunbathing In The Rain -
Gwyneth Lewis. Worth having if only for the title.

Mindfulness and creative colouring for adults can really really relax you and take your mind off things :-

Agree with the humans and reasons to stay alive by Matt Haig.
