Hi, can anyone recommend a general child care book that's not so mainstream and more, how can i say, 'hippyish'? I'm looking for advice on things like how often to wash baby (re' facts on how chlorinated the water is), bedtime routines (a new approach rather than old fashioned, rigid advice), co-sleeping, what toys they should be playing with at what age etc etc. Thank you x

TBH if you have an understanding of child development you would not be asking the question. However, regarding washing, what do you do, keep your bum clean for instance? Chlorinated water is a blessing and the 3rd world would like a similar water supply. Just don't have the baby in bed with you if you have you have imbibed substances.

I subscribe to a great magazine called The Green Parent. There are 4 copies a year and it has fantastic natural parenting advice. (co-sleeping, natural products for your family, crafts all sorts really.)I bought my first copy in Sainsburys. It is also online at thegreenparent.co.uk

Nature's Children - Juliette de Bairacli-Levy Read this years ago. Can't remember if it was any help practically, but interesting. J de BL lived in a small cottage in the New Forest and brought her children up close to nature. She was a herbalist too I think.
