My daughter is boarding for the first time this academic year. She’s joining year 9 on a weekly boarding basis.
we have the kit list from her school. But what are some other hints/ tips or advice is there to support her weekly boarding. What sorts of things should I pack that may not be on the kit list. Are there any must haves?

Essentials not mentioned yet which my child swears by:
Microfibre hair towel turbans, desk tidy folder thing, small squeezy squash, small mirror which goes on her desk for makeup, extra sheets and a dark towel in case period is heavy. Radio alarm clock - for gentle interesting wake up and doubles as a speaker. Late night listening when devises are handed in ! Blanket for end of bed and being cozy in common room.
large fabric box (ikea) for bottom of cupboard which acts as a catch all but handy for when moving rooms and keeping stuff together.
ahe doesn’t bother with fairy lights pictures or stuff but has a pinboard so uses pins for work / large postit notes for walls for revision / prompts / reminders.
she also has different smelling shower gel for school than for home- her choice. She has a big toiletries bag and we like going shopping for it all the day before she goes back.
Take a pillow and duvet from home - not nec new one - my child said it felt too new and like a hotel and not homely. I always make the bedding before we leave house and transport in large bags for quick bed making.
we are never allowed to stay long - a good sign I think !
