Hi there, our DS (moving into y5) is preparing to sit his 13+ exams next year, however we feel his prep school is not pushing him enough - does anyone know of any tutors around the SW London area (around £60p/h) who has preparation experience of St. Paul's, Eton and Westminster in particular, but also for the likes of KCS Wimbledon and Hampton. Would be very grateful for any recommendations - thanks x

Oh Lordy I feel for you and I can’t help whatsoever - sorry! . I’m largely out the other side now with education but the world outside of London is so much more lovely. You can phone up and register your child in a local country prep school and have them start the next day. Said child will probably get a scholarship (so many seem to these days) to a major public school (not London) where they will thrive and come out armed with wonderful exam results and a fantastic rounded co-curricular experience. They will go on to their university of choice - and it’s all just so easy, without tutors and parental stress.
I understand the London bubble is so very different but to have to fork out for tutors when they are already at a prep to get in to an ultra competitive school seems so at odds with what private education is like for everyone not gunning for this handful of schools.
its bad enough for ex private school kids trying to get jobs as it is without the millstone of the Eton brand concreted on their cv. Shouldn’t be like this as it’s a wonderful school but that’s the reality these days in the real world.
