Boarding school birthday (September new joiner)

My DD will join a sixth form this September and her birthday is a fortnight after joining. It’s about 50% boarding and I’m guessing about 15 -25 girls will be in the boarding house on the day as it’s midweek. Sports training is later unless they all go for a run or something, so am expecting people might be around. But she won’t know who her people are really yet.
Do people usually send treats/decorations/ flowers? She is a gentle personality and won’t be one of the big personalities in the boarding house.
Any ideas or suggestions very much welcomed. She’s been desperate to attend for ages and is very excited and I would like to make her first birthday away from family a good one.

Mine were Yr9 when they started boarding and I sent brownies to share in the boarding house, a birthday balloon, and normal wrapped gifts.

The youngest has an early Sept birthday so I always mention it to the house parent at drop off and checked what the norm was, if I should order cake etc. The school have always made a bit of a fuss and the girls in the boarding house have done the same so far but I don’t know what it would be like for sixth form.

Oh that’s a good idea to ask the boarding house parent. Thank you. It’s all new and exciting but unfamiliar and I want to get the little things right as much as I can to help stability and settling in.

I dropped off brownies and fairy cakes for DD’s house, went down well, but I was close enough to drop them off. There were a few local people that delivered them too for birthdays, most schools will have bakeries /home bakers with businesses serving the school

That is a good shout, there is bound to be a preferred local baker. I’ll probably have to give her the task of researching unless the house parent knows. It’s near a fairly fancy town so I might try googling a bit too. Thank you!

A big pizza delivery always goes down well for birthdays in boarding houses.

pizza Is a fun shout. Might see if I can get it delivered as a post training snack. Thank you all, I am a lot less worried now. I just panicked that it might feel like a portentous event so if it wasn’t marker or felt flat then she might have a wobble. Grateful to have some ideas now so I will ask the house mistress for a steer but offer some possibilities. Thank you!
