Anyone got any current or recent experience of OSH? Considering it for my son for Year 7, who is slightly above average academically, very musical and loves playing team sports (rugby, football, cricket) but more likely to be an enthusiastic member of a B team than excelling in the A team!

I have a child at OSH at the moment, if your child is very sporty it’s a good choice - particularly rugby and cricket! They have A-D teams and do move children between the teams according to performance. Music is not as high profile as sport but still good - the access to practise space for instruments is excellent, they will pretty much teach any instrument too - if they don’t have a teacher in place they will find one. My child is very happy there!

Thanks. I wouldn’t say he is super sporty - he absolutely loves sport and plays a lot but isn’t amazing! How are the academics? He is very capable but needs to be pushed, typical boy! Assume class sizes of 30? I would say he’s very much an all rounder, will try his hand at anything, very sociable and likes constant entertainment…

As an alternative DS is at Haberdashers' Adams Grammar and they play matches against OSH. Possibly given it's a grammar more academic than OSH and very keen on rugby if he's a keen player. I'd say for a state school it's pretty sporty with lots of matches if you are A team material. There is boarding if it's not on your doorstep though it's quite quiet at weekends (a parent at osh told me it's the same at weekends there..)
