Should a boarding school personal statement be handwritten or typed?

A very silly question that I can't seem to find the answer to on the internet. My DC is applying for a few boarding schools and one of them in particular has asked for a personal statement.
Anyone know if it should be handwritten or can be typed in a word document or if the schools care. They don't specify on the website, it just says to upload the personal statement.
Thanks in advance.

How old is he? What age is he going to boarding school? Is he able to ask his teacher now or can you enquire from his present school? None of my children went to boarding school but when they went to university they had to handwrite their personal statement. Tbh if I was really unsure I would ask the boarding school.

This is 13+ and it's for Wellington.
Perhaps I should just call them and ask but I thought they'd broken up already.
