Hello , ds is joining sixth form next Sept. He has been attending boarding school abroad as we work for an NGO abroad.

We have had conditional offers from Holyport and Wymondham.

He is choosing STEM subjects for A level and would like a school that can get the very best out of him. Would like to attend Kings, UCL or Durham for university.

Grateful for any advice on best choice for academic focus and pastoral care.

My dd state boarded (not these schools) and whilst care was adequate, it was more like university halls with extra supervision than full pastoral care. Many went home on weekends too. If you are overseas do you have someone local?

Yes we have family in the south east that he can stay with over the holidays. But looking for advice about those that stay over during the weekend

Have you considered DYRMS? Awesome sixth form provision and wonderful leadership opportunities.

You might want to consider Ripon Grammar as well. Great results and there are a lot of sixth form boarders. Whilst there are weeklies there are termly overseas boarders too.
