Hi all,

Just thought I would start a thread for Entry 2027 for the above.

My DS has had the invite for the Harrow Test in Jan 2025, has anyone heard back for Eton or Winchester?

i appreciate its just a waiting game, but am asking out of curiosity.

Re Eton, I got an email yesterday and they'll tell us the results by 16 Dec.
Re Winchester, their website says just "early Dec".
Fingers crossed for everyone.

Num1 · 05/12/2024 07:41

Thanks vjceqgub.

I have also just got the email from Eton. When I spoke with Winchester, they have also said 16th December.

Best of luck everyone.

Hi OP, Thank you for sharing.

Solasum · 06/12/2024 07:56

Also waiting…. I had the email about before 16th from Eton too. But apparently some boys have already been invited for January?

Solasum · 06/12/2024 07:58

I hate being in Limbo! Have you applied for day schools too?

vjceqgub · 06/12/2024 09:00

Yes, Westminster and City.

vjceqgub · 06/12/2024 09:30

Oh, got email from City and Yes!

vjceqgub · 06/12/2024 09:30

Oh, got email from City and Yes!

Congrats on the email from City! DS has also applied for Westminster. We haven’t applied for any day schools.

Waiting to hear back too from Winchester & Eton. Only heard from Harrow so far. Thanks for starting this tread so we can now be informed & in touch for 2027 admissions . Good luck everyone!

Congrats on the email from City! DS has also applied for Westminster. We haven’t applied for any day schools.

Thank you very much. What a coincidence that we're on the same boat of Westminster! Fingers crossed for both of us.

vjceqgub · 06/12/2024 12:14

@Num1 Eton and Winchester too! What is your first choice if we got an offer from all three?

Num1 · 06/12/2024 19:08

@vjceqgub Its a curious one really, which one to choose.

DS seems to really like the idea of Harrow because of the focus on his sport.

Eton seems rather good too as does Winchester, both seem to enjoy some success sports-wise.

At the moment he is driven by who can support his sporting ambitions whereas his parents are focused on the 99.999% likely outcome of not being a sporting superstar and relying on his grades to get him to the best Uni possible.

Harrow, Eton, Winchester then Westminster.

How about you?

Hi @Num1

My DS is non-sporty at all on the contrary, and even hates playing rugby in winter... That's the reason why we didn't apply for Harrow.

Of course, all schools are excellent and it's hard to choose, but for me

  1. Westminster
  2. Winchester
  3. Eton

City has another story. His brother is there.

Num1 · 06/12/2024 20:13

@vjceqgub We never actually attended an open day for Westminster and just applied on reputation. Not exactly a great decision, admittedly.

The House Master visit for Winchester and Harrow were pivotal in DS being attracted to them. So so supportive and encouraging to DS, helped his motivation.

Did any of you manage to see the HM’s for your DS’d prospective schools? How did you find them?

Hi @Num1

Re WinColl, we selected two houses and visited in the summer term of Y5, based on the information provided by

Current Prep
Parents I know whose sons are attending WinColl
School Tour
Website

Current Prep has been feeding a decent number of boys to WinColl, so it's not that difficult to collect it.

But the final decision was made by my gut feeling. DS and I fortunately had a chemistry with an HM when visiting.

Re Eton HM, we haven't done anything about the houses, and we're going to do it again once we gets an offer.

Andante57 · 07/12/2024 09:59

Best of luck everyone who’s waiting for results!

vjceqgub · 10/12/2024 09:52

WinColl sent the results out for the interview. Good luck!

Num1 · 10/12/2024 11:27

Just heard from Winchester that DS has been unsuccessful, so will not be invited to the next stage.

Hope everyone has a better outcome and best of luck to all who made it to the next stage!

Sorry to hear that Num1. Hopefully the Harrow assessment day in January will go well. I thought it seemed a lovely school when we attended an open day earlier this year.

vjceqgub · 10/12/2024 12:47

@Num1 so sorry to hear that. I hope other schools will go well with you.

Num1 · 10/12/2024 13:01

Thanks everyone.

Oh no. Sorry to hear. I almost assumed that if you got to round two for one out of harrow Eton Winchester, you’d be likely to get all? As iseb threshold must surely be similar? Please educate me, if anyone is knowledgeable about this process…

NiftyAquaSwan · 11/12/2024 22:25

Hi Moms,
wondering how to prepare for the second round of Harrow in January? Any information would be helpful. Thanks

I don't know exactly how many candidates this year, but our prep says the acceptance rate is 1 to 5 for Winchester and 1 to 6 for Eton in recent years.

Kitkat189 · 11/12/2024 23:55

Thanks @vjceqgub does that refer to offers, or invites to second round? I assume offers?
