Boarding school for child with draft EHCP

Looking for a boarding school who are inclusive and with a can do attitude. Son in year nine has EHCP in draft as no named school, was excluded after hitting a kid who called him the N word, we are appealing this. He’s been exploited by county lines so we want him away for everyone’s safety: he’s very very bright and wants to go to university. Was predicted 7-9s at GCSE. We can look at state boarding schools with LA paying or we can possibly access CEA funding from the military as we are a military family

I suppose the advantage of being in the same place is you know the places where the abusers/exploiters are likely to be hanging out and you can avoid them.
Is he trying to avoid the exploiters or does he still think they are his friends?

He avoids all the major towns around us, he’s scared of them. They know where he lives so when they want money they come around the village.
We lived in Germany before and I’m pretty sure things would have been better if only we could have stayed :-(

I suppose with it being a small village there are other people who can look out for him. Is there any way to get a restraining order? Will school look out for him too?

In parts there is safety in the community but in other ways very vulnerable. One exploiter is in prison for another offence but there are many more around :-(

I remember your post and am glad to hear that he has a school place that is going well. Is there any chance of your living on base as that might make it harder for the dealers to exploit him?

I would say that you could still consider moving him for 6th form as a lot of new bursary funding kicks in at that point but assuming he is now in yr 10 you really need to start the research now. I wouldn't discount Christs Hospital for 6th form if he's bright as they have more of an IQ test than an academic exam and a lot of bursary funding. Their funding is streamed and the streams consider both finances and other circumstances and county lines is likely to mean that he scores highly.

That looks like an amazing school. He dresses like a “roadman” and cannot see him fitting in :-( I don’t know how I went so wrong!
I think I’ll look into sixth form in the next six months as I’d love him to board so we can all start to try and heal. The trauma of everything has damaged everyone very deeply

How is he getting on now? I'm in a similar boat. About to start trying to name a private boarding school in EHCP as very high risk for exploitation
