Hello everyone ,

Hope you are all good and having a lovely day .

I have already put this thread on the other mums net however I did not realise that this one existed .

im looking at moving to Nottingham either Wollaton park or Beeston however I have been told that even though theses areas are nice that there can be racismn . I have two black boys 19 and 16 and I don’t want any racismn directed towards them . It’s also important that they don’t get into the wrong crowd .

I would love to get views of anyone who lives in Nottingham . Would you recommend it ? . It’s cheaper to buy a house down there than were I am which is Essex . I also was looking at the area to do my child minding business.

I look forward to hearing from you .

Thanks

West Bridgford is the best area but of course it’s also pricey.
Beeston and Wollaton are multicultural because they’re around the university but I don’t know them very well,
hopefully others have a good idea. Good luck with your move!

Full disclosure, I’m white British so may not be the best person to have that type of knowledge but I’ve never seen or heard anything around west Bridgford, but again it may be due to my colour. Many university staff and hospital staff live in west Bridgford too and it’s multicultural
will your children be going to college / uni around here?

I've never experienced racismn in Nottingham

Thanks very much for your responses . I did look at West Bridgeport and it is slightly more expensive . I have focused my attention on Beeston as many others from the other group recommended that amongst others as a good area .

I am looking at Nottingham College for my younger . My older will look for work . He is currently doing warehouse job however he will by September think about what he wants to do long term . Nottingham college seems to offer many vocational courses .

I think I need to stop worrying and just take the plunge .

I’d suggest looking at Mapperley and Sherwood too as nice areas but cheaper than West Bridgeford.

West Bridgford and Edwalton nice but pricey. Wollaton decent and Beeston ok. I don’t think Nottingham has a racism problem but I’m white so not best placed to judge really. I know plenty of black people and have never heard any of them complain about racism here.
